Even-Aged Forest Management

This panoramic view showcases pine plantations of varying ages, illustrating even-aged forest management—a sustainable method where trees are cyclically planted, grown, harvested, and replanted. This approach fosters diverse forest habitats side by side, benefiting wildlife with abundant foraging and shelter opportunities close together, known as the Edge Effect. Trees in Riparian Areas near streams play a critical role in preventing erosion, filtering water, and providing wildlife habitats.

Today, forestry practices follow Sustainable Forestry Initiative guidelines, ensuring the sustainability of resources by planting three trees for every one harvested. Forestry also offers promising career opportunities, with seven entry-level positions available for every forestry graduate.
